Peony Bloom, Happy Birthday Watercolour

Hi friends
Today I'm sharing a birthday card using some of my all-time favourite products. I adore the Peony Bloom stamp set from Tonic Studios, it's so beautiful and well loved!
I have a few process photos to show you how I lay colour down - light to dark. Because this is a watercolour, the blending doesn't have to be perfect, and all the imperfections enhance the overall image.

Instructions

Layer 1 - Use the lightest colour, Sweet Pea for a quick wash. Add the colour straight to the stamped image  then use a wet paintbrush to move the colour around. Once dry add layer 2 with Wild Phlox. I allow to dry and add small touch-ups where needed.
Layer 3- my final colour is french wine, which is the darkest of the three. This time I add the colour with a small number 2 round paintbrush. This allows me more control and I can blend out the colour quickly before it dries.
Layer 4 - once dry I add the leaf detail with a couple Zig Clean Color Brush Pens, and the stamen is a Chromatek gel pen.I did go back into a few aread and darken some of the shadows with more French Wine.
Layer 5 - I stamped out some leaves from the Peony stamp set and coloured them with the same Zig pens. I fussy cut all the images out and set aside to dry thoroughly. Using Cool Water and True Turquoise Aqua Flows, I made a quick wash over a 5.24 inch by 4 inch watercolour panel and assembled my stamped images in a composition I liked. I popped them all up on foam pads and then went in with True Turquoise around the images to create more depth in the shadows.
Layer 6 - once the card was dry I mounted the panel onto an A2 card blank and added some champagne shine sequins. To finish I reached for my favourite sentiment stamp collection from Polkadoodles and white heat embossed on cardstock.
This card has a lot of dimension and therefore I popped it in an A6 envelope. It's only slightly larger than A2 but makes for a nice fit.
Once the card dried over night it really did look beautiful. This card is for a friend and I really hope she likes it!
As a sheer coincidence, this stamp set is currently on sale in the shop at an amazing price. Additionally, I am able to offer my readers and subscribers an additional 10% off anything in the Tonic shops, which there is currently a March Madness sale going on.
Some of the products I use have affiliate links. This does not affect the cost to you at all. I make a small commission for any direct sales though my links.
I am so grateful when this happens and it allows me to continue with my crafting, bringing you tutorials, blog posts, videos and inspiration. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!
Lots of love,
Jen xx
