Hi there!

Hello and welcome to my little corner of creativity. Here, I find peace and joy in the art of papercrafting, where each project is a gentle journey into the beauty of handmade treasures. Whether you're here to learn, find inspiration, or simply enjoy the process, I hope this space brings you as much happiness as it does to me

Hi friends and thanks for joining me today! It's time for the December 2021 release My Monthly Hero from Hero Arts! I am totally IN LOVE with all the stamp and die sets this month.

*Thank you for using my affiliate links to shop, your support means so much to me, and I shall endeavour to share as many inspirational posts as possible.

My first project is using one of the amazing add-on stamp and die sets, CM587 A Warm Welcome Stamp Set, and DI968 A Warm Welcome Die Set.

As soon as I took stock of what's available this month, I knew I was going to make a Dutch inspired card. I've travelled to Holland many times and adore all the beautiful canal homes. The Warm Welcome set was perfect for me to take inspiration from and here is one of my photos, which I've used as inspiration.

I wanted to make my card a little brighter than the photograph, and to pull some of my own personality into this project. I went with Aqua Flow Pens as they are highly pigmented but you can use any water based medium.
Canal Homes, Reflections - A2 watercolor
Instructions
  • Stamp out 6 of the houses, watercolor, and then die cut.
  • Die cut a second set of houses, but there's no need to stamp them.
  • Trim piece of watercolor card 5.25 inches by 4 inches.
  • Loosely line up your houses and place your sentiment on your watercolor panel. Remove the housed and then use your MISTI to stamp the sentiment onto your card.
  • White heat emboss, 'to new beginnings' onto black card and trim half an inch by 4 inches.
  • Adhere your non colored die cut houses onto your watercolor panel for exact placement and to make it easier to create your water reflection without the risk of ruining your beautiful watercolor houses.
  • Add the same color of the house to create your water reflection, in a ripple, organic way. Don't think about it, just go ahead and lay some color down and see what happens.
  • Once your water is dry you can pop your houses on foam pads and place them directly over your plain die cut houses (or remove the plain ones if you've not adhered them).
  • Pop your sentiment up onto foam pads and place at the base of your houses, acting as path between house and water.
  • Add your completed watercolor to an A2 card blank.
Wouldn't this be a lovely card to give to a new neighbor? I adore the water reflection effect, it's so easy to achieve, and doesn't need to be perfect.

Can you see the Dutch influence from the photo I've taken inspiration from? I love travelling and these set of stamps and dies have really brought back all those wonderful memories of Holland, thank you Hero Arts!
