Watercoloring with Shimmer Powders - January 2022 Stamp Club

Good afternoon and welcome to my papercrafting blog. Today I am sharing b a wonderful way to use Shimmer Powders. Used as a sprinkle powder, they give the most beautifully textured patterns on watercolor card, but today we're going to paint with them. one of the things I love most about the Shimmer Powders is the almost glossy, shimmery finish you achieve. It's not something you can easily pick up on a camera but to the naked eye, it's breathtaking.

The Project - Painting with Nuvo Shimmer Powders

Stamp out the wreath onto a piece of watercolor card size A2. We'll be trimming down the panel later but wanted a little wiggle room for the watercolored background I had in mind.
Add your Shimmer Powders, just a small amount of powder, either on a non-stick surface, or into a little painters palette, and add water.

Color in your wreath, starting off with your pink and yellow florals, mixing the two colors give you a wonderful orange!
Now color in the leaves and then start to drag out a little of those colors outside of the stamped lines. Add the blue to create a bolder background, and to tie the whole piece together.
Once completely dry, stamp the sentiment directly into the centre of your wreath.
Trim to 5 inches by 3.75 inches, and pop onto foam pads. Add acrylic white in as splatter and allow to dry.
Add your panel onto an A2 card blank, and sequins to finish.

The effect of the Shimmer Powders are just magical and bring this card to life! I'll be sharing two more projects with you very soon, but until then, have a wonderful day!
